Are you Ready for the Challenge? by Djun Wilson

Are You ready for the Challenge?

All your life you have been taught that you’re not a worthy person, or something is wrong with you. So, you don’t have any respect for yourself, people of color not all of them but the majority have poor self esteem because we have been branded. We have been programmed into believing that something is wrong with us. We are programmed with this isolation that dramatically down spiraled our very thought process to full destruction. We can have no significant understanding of any culture unless we also know, acknowledged, & accept the silence that we are institutionally created and guaranteed alone with it. The distant impression left by Washington propaganda is first that the south is justified in its present attitude towards blacks because of black degradation. The Prime cause of black= people failure to rise more quickly is his wrong education in the past: last that our future rise depends primarily on our own efforts. Each proposition is a dangerous half-truth. Washington doctrine has tended to make the whites, both north & south, shift the burden of black people problem to the black people themselves, and stand aside as critical and rather pessimistic spectators, when in fact the burden belongs to the nation. Which hand none of us are clean if we bend not our energies to re-writing these great wrongs.

As a Native & African American I speak for the majority when I say that I know what it’s like to be left out, not to have a voice. I challenge the minority-which is the people of society that is or is not part of the “Power Elite” to make your voice known. Your voice is the backbone for the majority. I bet you’re wondering who’s the majority and who’s the minority. You the member of society is the minority. I feel like this is just a direct aim, hit of harassment, towards not just negros but a hate crime against those who chose to live their truth. For me it is shown throughout history that they have constantly and consistently repeated through word or actions that they don’t’ care. A heavy and cruel hand has been laid upon us. As a black man myself, I feel us to be not only deeply injured, but grossly misunderstood our white countrymen do not know us. They are strangers to our character, Ignorant of our capacity. Oblivious to our history and progress and are misinformed as to the principles and ideas that control and guide us as people and as a man. The great mass of American Citizens estimates us as being a Characterless and Purposeless People: and hence we hold up our heads, if at all against the withering influence of a nations scorn and contempt. Well dang lance you got a good talk game, what about some facts. During the terms of Presidents Nixon, Ford, & Carter 1 in 20 Blacks, 1 in 25 Hispanics, and 1in 35 whites see prison time for non- violent offenses: 1 in 17 black, 1 in 21 Hispanics, & 1 in 26 whites for violent offenses. A civil war had to be waged to end slavery, a mass movement was necessary to bring a formal end to Jim crow, so those who imagine that something far less is required to dismantle mass incarceration and build a new egalitarian racial consensus reflecting a compassionate rather punitive impulse towards poor negros . They fail to appreciate the distance between Martin Luther King JR dream and the ongoing Racial nightmare for those of American Society. The silent Majority; In other terms the law should reflect more like football were the penalties are the same for either team whether they be 5, 10 or 15 yards. Those who are going home, the fight has only begun, I challenge you to continue what our ancestors have started so long ago. To continue the challenge, I gave the minority with your voice and the voices of injustice that has plagued this great nation since the early settler’s. We have gone from plantation to penitentiaries. They have tried to create a criminal justice system that particularly targets us black men. We can’t sit back Silently: That’s why I am up here talking and will continue to talk, Upon release we are left with a mental shell shock and are unprepared to deal with the everyday life in society. This is the crime I accuse my country and countrymen and for which neither I nor time nor history will ever forget or forgive them-that they have destroyed and are destroyed and are destroying

hundreds of thousands of lives and do not know it and do not want to know it. Quick Question? Are we willing to cast ourselves as a society that creates chromogenic conditions for some of its members, and then act out rituals of punishment against them as if engaged in some awful from of human sacrifice? Are we willing to demonize a population, declare a war against them and then stand back and heap shame and contempt upon them for failing to behave like model citizens while under attack? Again, I challenge you- the majority to make your voice known. As of November 8, 2018 Florida, made it possible for the majority to finally have their voices heard. To feel somewhat acceptable in society, however the choice is yours to take. Under Presidents Regan, Bush, & Clinton the war on drugs and poverty has been declared and extended – 1 in 10 blacks, 1 in 13 Hispanics, 1 in 20 whites gets prison time for non-violent offenses and 1 in 3 blacks , 1 in 6 Hispanics , 1 in 17 whites for violent offenses often the violent offenses are the same crime. What’s the difference between slaves and the property of D.O.C? well the only way to answer that is with law. Section one (1) of the 13th Amendment of the U.S Constitution says neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except of the party shall be duly convicted of a crime. This Amendment was met to abolish slavery, it didn’t work. The Power Elite just exchanged the slaveowner for the warden and the plantation with a prison. This Amendment is often referred to as the “Punishment Clause” which is not in conflict to the 8th Amendment of Cruel and Unusual punishment. Being human we can form an identity and to then attach a value to it – no other creature or animal in the world have the capacity to define who we are and then decide if we like that identity or not. Time is free, but it’s priceless, you can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it but you can spend it. Once you have lost it you can never get it back. make your time count. if the word integration means I challenge you, that with love we shall force our people to see themselves as they are to cease fleeing from reality and begin to change it. Are you willing to accept this critical and crucial challenge? It’s by far the most important of all the challenges so far. My Final Challenge to you. Let me give you a word of the philosophy of reform. The whole history the progress of human liberty-those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing up the grounds. They want the rain without the thunder and lightning. they mighty roar of it, the struggle may be a, moral and physical but it’s still a struggle non the least. remember power conceals nothing without demand .it never did, and it never will. now again are you ready for the challenge .out time demands it; our history requires it and God is watching.
